What kinds of ideas about presentation skills did you think about as Sir Ken Robinson presented his ideas about education? How could you incorporate what you saw into your own TED talk?
While watching Sir Ken Robinson give his TED talk I noticed that he used the element of humor freely. I liked that he used humor to retain the attention of his audience and I hope to do the same in my TED talk. Another thing I liked was his use of imagery throughout his talk. The imagery did not only simplify the points he was making it made the audience feel more comfortable with him. For instance, in the Death Valley analogy and the Los Angeles joke I noticed that he could have used British places as examples, but instead purposely chose to use American ones. By doing this he made the audience feel more comfortable and engaged. In my talk I would like to try to use imagery as he did.
How did Sir Ken Robinson's talk resonate with you? How might/might not Genius Hour support Ken Robinson's ideas about how to change education?
I believed that Sir Ken Robinson's views on education greatly reflected my own. In America, we focus on the testing not the learning. This causes children to memorize answers rather than learn the actual material.
